What's In My Bag?

TGIF! It's finally the weekend. It's also finally September, where has this year gone?! Summer just flew by! For me, that also means University is starting very soon. I'm looking forward and ready to start second year. As you can see, I'm trying to maintain a positive outlook. I know some of you have started the school year already, I hope it's going well for you so far.

(Note: I did previously make a blog post about this but decided to update it as I wasn't quite satisfied with the quality of it)

Before my bag is filled with books, lecture slides notes, notebooks I thought I'd show you what's in my everyday handbag. I'm a nosy person (I prefer to use the word 'curious' though) and that means I have the habit of ogling and often wonder what's in someones handbag - make up? Dior sunglasses? KFC takeout? Anything. You never know what you'll find in a girl's handbag. I also learned a few things or two from 'What's in my bag?' videos/blog posts. Here I present to you my essentials that I could never leave the house without.

This bag was truthfully a "To me, from me" birthday present a few weeks back #noregrets. This beauty is from Kurt Geiger.

What really did it was the colour, the bold mauve triggered the impulse buyer in me (the colour does however, comes out a lot more pink in the pictures) The hint of gold made it even better. It's just to classy, clean cut and eye catching. It's also very strong due to the thick leather, I need a bag that can withstand all sorts of weather and won't wear out easily.

What I would conflict with is the size of it, it's a lot smaller than what I would normally go for; especially for an everyday handbag. However, in a way that encourages me to deduct unnecessary items from my bag. Plus, it adds that extra cute factor to the bag. It comes with a handle and a strap which is SO handy. I prefer carrying bags on my shoulder rather than holding it in my hand (if that makes sense?), it's just a lot more convenient for me that way.
The insides contain one smaller pocket to store any loose items (though I tend to put my most important things such as my oyster in there) It's a reasonable size so I'm not complaining!

Onto the essentials...
Purse: I don't know about you but I despise small purses. I have way too many things (advantage cards, sadly not money) therefore, it wouldn't fit. I like to keep my things organised so ramming everything into one small purse isn't even an option for me. I also tend to carry a lot of 10ps an 2p change around with me (just in case I need it when I'm bursting for the toilet and it costs 30p to use it), investing in a coin purse is currently on my to do-list. This purse is by DKNY, I'm not sure where it's from because it was a gift.

Perfume: Smelling good is a must for me. Especially since I feel like whatever perfume or deodorant I use, it will always wear off. This is the Daisy by Marc Jacobs perfume. It smells so good and lasts for a majority of the day. Smelling nice is also a big confidence booster too.

Oyster Card/Rail Card: If you're living in London you cannot live without this. Rail cards are handy to get discounts (especially if you're a student)!
It took me way too long to get my oyster out of my purse and I didn't want to merge my contactless card with my oyster so I got a separate oyster cover. It makes life easier, I can just whip it out at any moment. Holding up a queue whilst you're at the barriers is a nightmare, trust me.
I chose this particular one due to the fact that it has the tube map on it. This was from Waterstones.

Notebook: I always like to pop over to Starbucks for an hour or so just to jot down a to-do list and anything that requires extensive planning. I particularly love this motivational notebook "Expect nothing, appreciate everything" purchased from TK Maxx. A majority of my notes range from my wishlists, long-term and short-term goals, blogging ideas and to-do lists. In a nutshell, lists that stress me out every single minute of every day. On the bright side, I'm addicted to the feeling of accomplishing lists.

Pen: One of the most important and useful things to have in your handbag.

Sunglasses: As gloomy as I make the weather out to be in Britain, we do still have the odd spot of sun. Or something to help you cover up when you're recovering from a hangover/aren't feeling fabulous.

Earphones: For an anti-social person this is very handy, especially whilst on the train. I cannot stand the silence on trains. Plus, a little music gives you that extra boost of motivation. It's a great way to kill time whilst you're commuting.

Umbrella: Always come prepared with an umbrella. I can't stand rain, even if it's just spitting.

Amongst my other essentials is a smaller black purse which contains the smaller items. I don't like having loose items in my bag, I prefer it when things are stored neatly.
Hand sanitiser: If you haven't figured, I like to be clean; very very clean. Throughout the day you'll find yourself touching all sorts - hand railings, dirty tables, door handles. etc basically everything has bacteria and in order to prevent any future illnesses or breakouts on your face, it's always good to maintain pure, clean hands.

Fish-eye lens: These are so popular right now. I haven't used it as often as I would like but when I remember it's in my bag, it's something fun to use. It was also really cheap, I purchased it on Amazon a while back.

Hand moisturiser: Since the colder months are coming up, my hands don't seem to match the oiliness of my face. We all know how painful have cracked, cut hands are so always carry around a small hand moisturiser. This one is from Soap and Glory and it smells divine.

Buddha Necklace: A Chinese good luck charm. My boyfriend is very superstitious and previously,  he used to carry this around with him during his College days. When we found it a few months ago he decided to pass it down to moi. (I hope this does work...)

Paracetamol: I don't know about you but I hate getting headaches, toothaches or be in any sort of pain. So it always comes in handy to bring paracetamol with you. I think you'll find that not a lot of people carry this around with them too.

Make-up: Lipstick and Lipliner, my back-ups and essentials. At some point during the day when I'm out, I'm either eating or drinking something... meaning, bye bye lipstick. I don't know about you, but I feel like I look more put together when my lips have some colour on them. My lip liner is the Maybelline Expert Lip Liner in Spice Rose and the lipstick is the Pure Color Crystal by Estee Lauder.

Hair accessories: Bobby pins and hair ties. Whatever length of hair, this is a feminine necessity. On days where my hair isn't co-operating with me, I end up throwing my hair into a simple ponytail and the bobby pins are for the fly aways.

I'd love to know what essentials you have in your everyday handbags, let me know in the comments below! (that rhymes) I hope you enjoyed and have a wonderful week!

  1. I try to keep my handbag as light as possible, because I have a terrible back and the heavier the bag the sooner it aches when I'm walking or standing :-/
So for me it's usually wallet, house and car keys, sunglasses, phone, lip balm and/or lipstick.

    1. Short and sweet! that's definitely me on a night out, just the essentials like my ID, phone, card and cash. Bless your heart though! I would just get someone else to carry it for me haha! I joke.
      Thanks for commenting! xox

  2. I love seeing what people carry in their handbags! It's like getting a little peak into their lives, what they consider to be important, etc. Thanks for sharing! :) Also, I wish I could put some heart eye emojis here for that bag! Gorgeous!

    1. Thank you so much, yeah I get a lot of compliments whenever I wear this bag. I hope it doesn't wear out anytime soon!
Most definitely, whenever I'm on the train I always find myself ogling at peoples handbags.

  3. I am so bad when it comes to handbags! I hate having to carry loads of stuff around with me so I carry the tiniest hand bag I can get! I love the idea of having a big gorgeous handbag with loads of pretty stuff in it though :) Lovely post! xxx

    1. That used to be me! I hated not having the extra safe essentials (like hand sanitiser/moisturiser) whenever I was out though so I just had to let myself carry those extra few essentials.
      Thanks for commenting xox

  4. Great post! It's so interesting to see what other people carry around with them! :)
